First Job in Hospitality/Tourism: Condo-World was my first job in the hospitality/tourism industry. 8 years later, I'm still here!

What is one of the most rewarding aspects of your job?

It's been incredible to see how technology has advanced all aspects of our industry, from marketing to operations and everything in between. Innovation is at the heart of what we do, and we pride ourselves on our ability to bring fresh ideas to market and develop them in-house. I love being part of a team that embraces the challenges that technology brings and turns them into opportunities for growth.

What is the best compliment you’ve ever been given by a customer at work and what did you do to deserve it?

I'm always humbled to read reviews from our guests because their feedback really puts all the hard work we do behind the scenes into perspective. Being in the marketing department ,we don't usually interact face to face or on the phone with guests, so reading our reviews keeps us connected to what's working. I love hearing that our staff has made a difference for somebody, and we hear things along those lines often. This review was posted this morning on our website: "Your staff is so user-friendly. In any business, stuff happens. But, to me, it is what the staff does if something happens that makes the difference. I feel that your staff is your biggest asset. Dawn has been a great facilitator for the last few years of my stays at Condo World."

Describe your favorite memory from your time working in the tourism/hospitality industry?

I can't pinpoint a specific memory, but would point to an overall theme that I've seen grow over the years, which is the benefits of collaboration within our industry. We have collectively grown our destination by being actively engaged with each other, competitors and all. My involvement with both the Myrtle Beach Chamber and North Myrtle Beach Chamber has allowed me to see firsthand how a collaborative effort can make a huge impact on our local economy and our own businesses. This collaborative approach, shared even amongst competitors, helps us grow strategically as a destination.

What do you think makes someone’s visit to the Myrtle Beach area memorable?

Our guests always remark that they love to vacation here because everyone is so friendly. We tend to take it for granted, but when you travel to other areas of the country, you notice the difference. Our area does an exceptional job showing our guests what Southern hospitality truly is.

How do you think the tourism/hospitality industry benefits the community you live in?

Tourism is an essential part of our community that affects every resident, whether they work in the this industry or not. It creates jobs, enhances economic development and improves the quality of life for everyone not only in our area, but in our state.

What is one thing you’d like to share about yourself or your experience working in the Myrtle Beach area tourism industry with your customers/guests?

Not only are we fortunate to live in this beautiful destination, but we're very fortunate to be able to work in the tourism industry that has such positive effects on so many individuals. From helping families build memories they'll share for a lifetime, to working together and seeing our destination grow as a direct result of our efforts, it's a rewarding place to do business.
